What is an Adult Family Home?
An AFH in Washington state stands for
Adult Family Home, which is a licensed residential home providing care for up to six non-related residents in a family-like setting. These homes offer room, board, personal care, supervision, and help with daily activities, regulated by the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS). They provide a more intimate alternative to large assisted living facilities.

How much does it cost?
In Washington state, the cost of living in an Adult Family Home (AFH) can vary based on the home's location and the level of care needed. The monthly rate is determined by the provider ( AFH owner ) upon reviewing all the care needs of the resident. A nursing assessment will also be necessary during the admission process. Will my parent have to move if they will need hospice down the road?
No, if a resident moves in and later needs hospice care, they can stay in the home and receive hospice care in our home. This is in fact a very common scenario in an adult family home.

How often can I visit?
You are welcome to come visit as often as you wish. Once a resident moves in, our home becomes their home, and their visitors are encouraged to come spend time with them.

Are the rooms furnished?
Yes, our rooms are furnished but you are welcome to tell us if you want to keep the furniture or have us move it out. You are also welcomed to bring additional furniture items, pictures and any items you wish.

Do you take medicaid?
We have a current medicaid spend down policy requiring a minimum of 4 years of private pay prior to transitioning to medicaid.
